The making of a mother III

The conversation among women whenever a pregnant women is present,  focuses on stories from their own pregnancies and the ‘preparation’ for motherhood: eating healthy, thoughts of how to parent, creating a ‘nest’  for the family and tips from the others in the group about parenthood.  This sculpture imagines the metamorphosis that transpires as women approach motherhood.  Notice the back of the head and the backbone all mothers need as their child grows up.
